Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak is ranked first among Detroit metro area hospitals in U.S. News & World Report's first-ever Best Hospitals metro area rankings.

All three Beaumont Hospitals are recognized in the new Detroit metro rankings. Beaumont Hospital, Troy ranks fifth and Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe is ranked eighth are also among the Detroit area’s top-ranked hospitals.

The new rankings recognize 622 hospitals in or near major cities with a record of high performance in key medical specialties, including 132 of the 152 hospitals already identified by U.S. News as the best in the nation. 

In addition to its Detroit metro ranking, Beaumont, Royal Oak is ranked in six medical specialties in U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Hospitals” national rankings for 2010.

Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak is a 1,061-bed tertiary hospital, complete with inpatient and outpatient services, and several other buildings including:

• Imaging Center, housing X-ray and other radiology testing, and the Comprehensive Breast Center
• The Beaumont Cancer Center
• Renal Center
• Vascular Services Center
• Research Institute
• The Beaumont Heart Center
• Medical office building, housing physicians' private practices and several other Beaumont services
