Businesses and consumers from all over south Oakland County will find the products and services they need at the inaugural business expo of the Royal Oak and Ferndale chambers of commerce Wednesday, April 4 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Churchill Community Education Center, 707 Girard Avenue in Royal Oak. The chambers expect 75 of their combined 800 members will exhibit at the event, which is open to the public. Sponsors of the event, all of which will have booths at the expo, are Citizens Bank, Benepro, LaSalle Bank, Certified Financial Consultants, Sozo|Pivotal and Allegra Print & Imaging. Confirmed exhibitors include florists, promotional products dealers, interior designers, sign makers and lawn and garden equipment sellers. Show managers say the expo will especially benefit businesses located in non-downtown locations, such as Woodward Avenue.


15th Annual Royal Oak in Bloom

Spring is just around the corner and it is time for you to start thinking about the 15th Annual Royal Oak in Bloom scheduled for Sunday, May 11, 2007 from 7 am - 2 pm. The event will once again take place in the Williams St. municipal parking lot, located at Eleven Mile Road and Williams Street, in front of Royal Oak City Hall and the Royal Oak Public Library. Spaces are reserved on a first come/first served basis. To confirm your spots, please complete and return the enclosed application, with full payment by April 6, 2007.


14th Annual Clay & Glass Festival

June 21 - 22, 2008

Royal Oak has everything that makes summer fun. For art, food and the Royal Oak street scene, look no further than the Clay & Glass Festival and Taste of Royal Oak Saturday and Sunday, June 21 and 22. Shop for jewelry, gifts, decorative art and architectural pieces with 125 artists while kids express themselves at Creative Arts Studio or the Detroit Institute of Arts tent. Royal Oak’s favorite restaurants will provide food and beverage on Fifth Street, with live music and DJs alternating. Artists’ tents will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Food and music at the Taste of Royal Oak will be available Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The first 2 hours in the parking structures are free). Sponsored by National City Bank, Great Stuff To Do, 93.9 The River and Hour Detroit.


Chamber Golf Classic

The Chamber Golf Classic is scheduled for next Monday, June 30 at Red Run Golf Club, located on Rochester Road just north of Twelve Mile Road in Royal Oak. Following is an outline of the day’s itinerary and some pointers on how you can maximize your day.

OUTING PERKS

  • Attended locker rooms will be available for both ladies and men throughout the day.
  • Complimentary cocktails will be available at lunch, at the turn and in the dining room following the outing.
  • Complimentary valet service will be available for the outing.
  • Caddy service is available. Please plan to tip your caddies at the end of play.

OUTING RULES

  • A four-person scramble format will be followed. Rules for the scramble format will be included in the itinerary provided at the start of the outing.
  • Appropriate golf attire is required including collars and golf shorts or slacks for men. No denim please.
  • Local course rules must be observed at all times. A copy of the course rules will be provided in each cart.

The Garage Sale is the largest annual fundraiser for the Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce, and takes place over two days, Saturday, July 14 from 9:30am-6pm and Sunday, July 15 from 9:30am-5pm.
