Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak is ranked first among Detroit metro area hospitals in U.S. News & World Report's first-ever Best Hospitals metro area rankings.
All three Beaumont Hospitals are recognized in the new Detroit metro rankings. Beaumont Hospital, Troy ranks fifth and Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe is ranked eighth are also among the Detroit area’s top-ranked hospitals.
The new rankings recognize 622 hospitals in or near major cities with a record of high performance in key medical specialties, including 132 of the 152 hospitals already identified by U.S. News as the best in the nation.
In addition to its Detroit metro ranking, Beaumont, Royal Oak is ranked in six medical specialties in U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Hospitals” national rankings for 2010.
Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak is a 1,061-bed tertiary hospital, complete with inpatient and outpatient services, and several other buildings including:
- Imaging Center, housing X-ray and other radiology testing, and the Comprehensive Breast Center
- The Beaumont Cancer Center
- Renal Center
- Vascular Services Center
- Research Institute
- The Beaumont Heart Center
- Medical office building, housing physicians' private practices and several other Beaumont services
Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit provides a welcoming community of social and emotional support for men, women, teens and children living with cancer, their families and friends. Each month, Gilda’s Club offers more than 120 program activities, including support groups, education lectures, workshops (yoga, art, quilting, beading and more), children and teen programs, bereavement groups and social events. The organization also offers support groups and a yoga workshop at Botsford Cancer Center in Farmington Hills. Since opening in 1998, Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit has welcomed more than 7,300 people affected by cancer to the 9,500-square feet clubhouse located in Royal Oak.
All program activities are free to those who attend. The program is supported by the generosity of individuals, community organizations, foundations, businesses and special events.
Gilda’s Club is an affiliate of the Cancer Support Community, a network of more than 50 affiliates located through North America. Each year, the Cancer Support Community network offers support to more than 500,000 people touched by cancer. Every affiliate is affiliate is financially independent and managed, and funds remain in the local communities.
